So, I signed up for this Warrior Dash with my sister-in-law. If you are unfamiliar with it
here are the details. It is basically a 5k with a Japanese-style (you know what I'm talking about) obstacle course. You basically run up and down a mountain the first mile and the next two miles are spotted with 11 obstacles ranging from running through uncharted forest to crawling through the mud under barbed wire to jumping over fire. Yes, I AM nuts! My goal is to 1) survive and 2) finish in one piece. So why am I risking life and limb? I guess I just got bored with the everyday 5 K, wanted to do something daring. Prior to being married and being a mom, I'd have to say I didn't always think before I acted. And now that I'm marginally more responsible (I have my husband to thank for that most of the time) life gets a little boring and I get a little restless.
One of my goals is to complete a sprint triathlon, which I hope to do soon. I'm traditionally a runner and have been for the past 12 years or so, this is why I'm not in an insane asylum! Running is definitely my stress reliever, but I need a change every once in a while. Change is good right? I wanted to challenge myself a little bit, really just to see if I still had that competitive side. I am running with my sister-in-law, which besides my sister is the most competitive person I know, so if I'm not ready, I'm in trouble! I've been running and lifting some weights especially upper body, so I think I'll be ok. I'm figuring I might have some trouble due to my short stature, but hey I deal with that everyday!
So my next blog will be to let you know I survived and to show you how muddy I got!
